Hindalco to invest 45K crores (5.21 Billion USD) in Aluminum & Cu.

India’s largest aluminum metal producer, Hindalco Industries Limited, will invest INR 45000 crores (5.21 billion USD) in the next 3 to 4 years across the country in aluminum and copper specialty alumina businesses, announced by Aditya Birla Group Chairman Kumar Mangalam Birla while launching a new brand identity.

Birla said, This is Hindalco’s story, the journey of innovation, pioneering solutions, and sustainability of all at the up-resident scale, a journey whose next chapter marks a transparent path for metal suppliers to engineered solution partners, recommending INR 45000 crores across aluminum, copper, and specialty alumina businesses to deliver both upstream as well as next-gen high-precision engineering products to valued customers.  

Achievements of Hindalco

  • Founded more than 65 years ago in Renukoot as a small aluminum producer. Hindalco rolled in building a newly independent nation.
  • In response, Hindalco has, over the years, introduced value-added products to support key industries like automobile, aerospace, pharma, construction, food packaging, industrial machinery, and many more.
  • The company is a global leader in aluminum and copper production. Primary aluminum has expanded 20,000 MT to 1.3 million MT. Hindalco’s subsidiary Novelis has a capacity of 4.2 million tons. It’s the world’s largest producer of flat-rolled aluminum products. It is also the largest recycler, with approximately 82 billion beverage cans recycled annually.

Hindalco in EV and Renewable sector

Aditya Birla Group Chairman Kumar Mangalam Birla announced in Mumbai that Hindalco will also be setting up India’s copper foil factory for EVs. The company is working on different sectors like renewable energy, semiconductors, and EV mobility. Hindalco is the world’s largest aluminum company by revenue and the world’s second-largest copper rod company outside China. Hindalco is on track to surpass 1 million MT of refined copper production.

The Birla Group has pioneered a 100 MW renewable energy solution for aluminum smelting, combining wind-pumped and hydro storage for a stable round-the-clock energy supply.
